DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in La Crosse WI has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Wisconsin... Kickapoo River at Readstown affecting Vernon County. Kickapoo River at Viola affecting Richland and Vernon Counties. .Heavy rain in the Kickapoo River Basin will lead to a few gages along the river reaching Minor flood stage Saturday morning. Rainfall of 2 to 4 inches has already fallen with another inch possible through the overnight. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Kickapoo River at Viola. * WHEN...From Saturday morning to early Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 14.5 feet, Two roads north of Viola may be under water. Water may be over Highway 131, 3 miles north of Viola, near Ski Hill Road, and also over Simmons Flat Road about a mile north of town. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 5:00 PM CDT Friday the stage was 12.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 14.5 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.6 feet on 04/15/2014. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
