DESCRIPTION: FFWLOX The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... The Bridge burn scar in... East Central Los Angeles County in southwestern California... * Until 500 AM PST. * At 328 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling over the southwestern portion of the Bridge burn scar. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 0.75 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Debris flows caused by heavy rain in and around the Bridge Burn Scar. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Mud, rock, and debris flows will impact drainages, roads, and residences in and directly below the burn area. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Heaton Flat, Coyote Flat, and the East Fork of the San Gabriel River.

INSTRUCTION: A Flash Flood Warning for a recent burn area means that flooding and debris flows are imminent or occurring. Residents living in or immediately downstream should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Quickly move away from the burn area only if it is safe to do so, otherwise shelter in place and move to a second story or the highest location in your home to stay out of the path of fast-moving water and debris flows.

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to their surface.

Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation similar to situations which produce snowfall.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.

When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific to any geographic area.

Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole, skypunch, and cloud hole.
