AREAS AFFECTED: Jim Hogg; Brooks
DESCRIPTION: At 642 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near South Fork Estates to near Ramirez. Movement was south at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Hebbronville, Agua Nueva, Guerra, Las Lomitas, Gruy Stadium, Jim Hogg County Airport, Hebbronville High School, South Fork Estates, Hebbronville Border Patrol Station, and Puesta Del Sol Airport.
INSTRUCTION: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.

Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
